Typical Day at the Mission:
Each morning, missionaries and staff are welcomed to morning breakfast, tea and coffee in their respective dining halls. Following breakfast, a worship assembly is held from 07h30 until approximately 08h50. During assembly, one of the missionary groups of twelve, takes charge of music, prayer and announcements. A Bible Message is presented by one of the staff members or one of the visiting lecturers. Announcements for the day are read, and then the missionaries begin the day’s lessons. Classes are held from 09h00 until 13h00 with a tea break of half an hour.
First, Second and Third Year Missionary classes are usually scheduled with different subjects, different lecturers, in one of the various classrooms on the mission. Lectures are generally followed by lunch. After lunch, depending on the day, missionaries will be engaged in preparation programmes, practical preparations and projects around the mission, or sporting activities.
Monday evenings are generally reserved for “Homiletics” Classes. From 19h00 to 21h00, usually 4-5 missionaries are required to present a message from the Bible. Following the message, the rest of the missionaries offer constructive feedback on the message and performance, with comments of “Well Done!” or “ Try Again!”
Wednesday afternoons are generally reserved for sports, which include soccer, volleyball, tug of war and other energy burning sports activities.
Saturdays and Sundays, many of the missionaries are involved in some of the various outreach programmes at BBM. These include prison ministry, hospital visitation, old age homes, TB Clinic, orphanages, various churches, farms and schools in the local area.
Choir practice is held regularly. All members of the Mission Council Body are encouraged to participate in the BBM Choir. The Choir has an excellent reputation in Southern Africa, and has now produced 11 choir CD’s.
